How to choose your first business automation
Choose a small, testable AI workflow with clear permissions, limits and human review.
Pick one repeated task
Start with a task that has a clear trigger, reliable inputs and an observable result. Drafting an internal summary from approved information may be easier to test than handling an entire customer journey. Do not begin by connecting every account your business owns.
Decide whether AI is needed
Simple rules can often move information or send a reminder without an AI model. AI is more useful when a task involves interpreting or drafting text. Compare the simpler option first, including its maintenance needs and software cost.
Set access and review limits
Use only the permissions the workflow needs. Remove private details from test examples when possible. Keep human approval before important messages, financial actions or changes that affect customers. Agree who can stop the workflow if it behaves unexpectedly.
Test normal and difficult cases
Check missing information, incorrect input, duplicate events and failures in connected tools. Record what should happen in each case. After launch, review errors and usage costs rather than assuming the workflow will maintain itself.
